River Run Farms

Our Stewardship

River Run Farms is a 5-acre layered ecology situated in the river-bottoms of Cabot Station. We believe in Permaculture Stewardshipβ€”the art of selecting livestock and crops that naturally harmonize with the Appalachian landscape. By mimicking natural forest systems, we create a closed loop: our forest-grazed goats clear the understory, our bees pollinate the orchards, and our silt-enriched soil yields nutrient-dense staples for our community.

The Apiary & Honey House

Stationary "bee-centric" techniques. We specialize in botanical-infused honeys (elderberry, lavender, and pine) and artisanal beeswax salves.

Forest & Field Offerings

Forest Fungi

Gourmet and medicinal mushrooms cultivated on hardwood logs in our shaded river-bottom forest margins.

The Harvest Rows (PYO)

Seasonal Pick-Your-Own: blueberries, blackberries, currants in summer; apples, pears, paw paws, and pumpkins in autumn.

Vintage Wildflower Illustration

West Virginia Wildflowers

Our native wildflower bottom offers seasonal cut-your-own bouquets. Wander through the silt-enriched meadows to gather heritage blooms that define the Appalachian landscape.

Seasonal Traditions

Vintage Pumpkins Illustration

The Pumpkin Patch

Autumn at River Run is marked by the ripening of our heirloom pumpkins and squash. Grown in the rich river-silt, these varieties are selected for both culinary excellence and rugged beauty.

Santa's Village

As the hills turn white, the farm mercantile transforms into an Appalachian Santa’s Village. We celebrate with handcrafted goods, warm cider from the cellar, and restorative community spirit.

Vintage Farmstand Illustration

The River Run Farmstand

Our stationary hub serves as a seasonal trading post for Cabot Station. From heirloom plant starts in the spring to silt-enriched garden provisions in the summer, the farmstand is where our layered ecology meets the community.

Heronsbrook Wools

Coming 2031: The Heritage Fiber Studio

As part of our final master plan phase, Heronsbrook Wools will introduce heritage-breed sheep to our river-bottom pastures. These flocks are selected for their long-staple luster and hardiness. Our vision is a complete "soil-to-sweater" cycle, where raw fleeces are processed, carded, and spun right here in Cabot Station.
